Centura Pearl exceeds all our hopes.

September 1999 saw the launch of one of the most exciting new products that Slater Harrison has ever developed, the unique Centura Pearl.

Centura Pearl was developed as a result of the increasing popularity of metallic finishes into this millennium. It offers a stunning, pearlescent finish which is unique to Slater Harrison and which can be produced in any colour we choose - and in relatively small quantities if required.

Our first concern in developing the new coating required for Centura Pearl was to make sure it was suitable for several different applications. Metallic based coatings are not always effective under glass, for example, so we needed to find a way to ensure that the metallic lustre was enhanced by glass. Another important factor for some markets is that it can be written on. Our laboratory staff found a way to guarantee both these features, and so we began producing samples.

All the major distributors have stocked the range and it has proven very successful with framers, many of whom are weary of traditional colours or finishes and who are looking for more vibrant alternatives. When Centura Pearl is combined with other boards as a double or inner mount, it looks stunning and, when used to frame animation art, it produces an almost three-dimensional effect, which brings to life the colours in the pictures.

Many framers and their customers have also commented on how beautifully a Centura Pearl mount complements a wedding photograph. You can also see how Pete Bingham uses it to great effect when framing a bride's floral headdress later in this issue.

In the last three months, we have found many other applications for Centura Pearl, some of which we have featured in this newsletter. If you would like to find out more about this unique new product, please contact Mike Braddock.
