Inglevale
is a famous brand name in the display board market, but one that was, until
early last year, dormant. Then Slater Harrison purchased a Sulzer laminating
machine from Congleton Board, a local company, and re-entered the display board
market.
Slater Harrison were so
determined to maintain the quality that both customers and merchants expected
from Inglevale display board, that five staff were recruited from Congleton
Board at the same time as the machine was installed. These highly skilled people
had experience of running the Sulzer laminator and two of them, Chris and Ian,
currently look after the running of the display board process at Bollington.
In re-entering the
display board market, we had three objectives: To supply a product of very high
quality; to concentrate on the development of the bespoke size market; and to
ensure the rapid production and delivery of each order. This approach has
resulted in a very successful first year for Inglevale.
Slater
Harrison's display board range currently includes seven different calliper
sizes, from 750 micron to 2250 micron, and can produce board to a maximum size
of 1275 x 2135mm.
This month, we are
launching two new Inglevale display boards - Budget board for applications where
price is critical, and a new double-sided inkjet board aimed at the digital
print market.
Budget board is
introduced in direct response to the changing needs of our wide customer base.
We identified occasions where price was more important than application, hence
the development of new Budget board. Sandy Guthrie comments, "We have
extended our range to give our customers the opportunity to offer their
customers alternative solutions. Both the new budget board and the double-sided
inkjet display board achieve this aim. Our inkjet trials in particular have
delivered superb quality and, at only £1 per board on average, low cost signs
for one off displays are at long last a reality."
As a leading innovator in
paper and board production, Slater Harrison has developed pearlescent display
board for the millennium. This ability to coat board with different textures and
colours leads to some very exciting possibilities for the future. Sandy Guthrie
says, "There are now enormous opportunities for the use of coloured display
board to match corporate colours, especially within the retail environment.
Slater Harrison is able to not only produce bespoke board sizes but also offer
short production runs, giving even smaller users the same options as the big
boys."
