 Letters
to the Editor
We were delighted to receive our first 'letter to
the Editor' here at In The Frame, particularly as it is
in response to a previous article in this newsletter. We
have had verbal comments from many framers, but your
comments can only be published if they are supplied in
writing so, if you would like to express your point of
view or have an interesting story to tell, please write

From
David Melville-Hayes, Arabella Vincenti Fine Art, Clacton
on Sea, Essex:

Madam,
We have been using rare wood veneers, such as
English yew, as the inner part of double mounts
for over six years. Wood veneers were first used
by us as far back as 1880 by my Great
Grandfather, when he had his studio in Paris
where this business first started.
We keep our development of unusual materials
secret mostly, however our latest ideas are thin
layers of rare marble let into mounts with the
use of 22ct gold leaf.

Customer
demands satisfied worldwide
When customers ask for new Colourmount products,
we will always do our best to accommodate them. A good
example of this is in the production of our new, white
backing board - resulting from just such a customer
request.
The initial demand for white backing board came from
Sweden, where white backing board is more popular than
grey. Now available in the UK and for export, the new
board is neutral pH with a white, acid free lining.
Cheaper to buy than woodpulp, it is 2000 microns thick, a
standard 815 x 1125 mm size and packed in 10's.
Because of the white cover paper, it is ideal for dry
mounting as well as all standard uses, and the acid free
lining will offer some degree of protection against
contamination.
We can supply samples of the board to interested framers
- simply ring our helpline on 01625 576505.
