"In the Frame" Autumn 2000 page 1

Our collection of stratagraphics - made by hand entirely from Colourmount board - is by now well known among framers all over the world, having been shown at exhibitions in Italy and Amsterdam, among others.

This stratagraphic, recently featured on the front cover of leading UK framing magazine, The Picture Business, was named “Rushes” by its creator, Toby Mercer. It took more than two weeks of painstaking design, and hand-cutting by this American artist and cost around £1,000 plus materials.

We have never found another framer, in the UK or abroad, who is able and willing to take on commissions such as these. So if you feel that you could match the quality and flair shown in these works of art, then we would love to hear from you.

Keeping you in the picture with news, views and essential product information

This special edition of In The Frame has been produced to ensure that all our customers, both UK and overseas, are aware of the help that Colourmount can give them in running their businesses.

Due to popular demand, this issue repeats an article by Pete Bingham, the current Master of the Fine Art Trade Guild, on framing wedding photography using Colourmount pearlescent board. As UK framers will know, Pete runs a very successful framing business and framing school and in his spare time writes books and makes videos about framing - as well as being one of the most active Masters of the Guild in memory.

The range of point of sale material available from Colourmount, which helps you to present the options to your customers, is also covered in detail in this issue. The entire range of point of sale material available is featured on the back page and can be ordered by simply completing the order form on the last page and returning it to us.

This issue of In The Frame features another successful UK framer with vast experience - Terry Jackman, who shares her colour secrets with us overleaf. We hope to feature more contributions from Terry in future issues.

We are always interested to hear your opinions about the framing market, Colourmount or In The Frame, so if you have something to say then tell us! You can contact us by letter, telephone or email - all our details are given on the back page.

Framers get noticed around the world
One of Sweden’s leading frame shops is Gallery Posters Rambutik. Situated in the centre of Gothenburg on a busy street, the shopfront really grabs the attention of potential customers, as our picture shows. The window displays are changed frequently and ‘A’ signs on the pavement attract pedestrians with details of new products. This is a great example of how a framing shop can stand out in a busy high street.
