Spring FairCentura pearl leads decorative packaging expansion
As mentioned elsewhere in this issue, the decorative packaging market continues to show tremendous growth for Slater Harrison and other companies lucky enough to be involved in servicing it. Since the launch of our Centura Pearl range just over a year ago, we have found that sales to this market are not only growing in the United Kingdom but is far away as Australia.

“I knew we were onto a winner with Centura Pearl,” said Lynda Braddock, Sales Manager at Slater Harrison, “but I must admit, the speed of its success has taken us all by surprise - not that we’re complaining, mind you!” Because the Centura Pearl coating can be applied to any paper, board or even film, it makes an ideal finish for packaging or gift applications. It is also one of the few metallic or pearlescent coatings that can be written on or printed in water-based inks, and so can be used for envelopes or gift tags without running the risk of customer
complaints (unlike other finishes which do not have this property).

Slater Harrison
has worked closely with customers to develop new products within the decorative packaging market, and the range of products now available in Centura Pearl includes gift wraps and tags, envelopes and presentation boxes, as well as other boxes for packaging. When combined with our other presentation finishes, such as embossing, Centura Pearl is doubly effective. With our embossing facility, it is possible to emboss either a standard pattern or, on sufficient quantity, a logo or brand name. So don’t be surprised to see products from a leading cosmetic house or perfumery sporting new Centura Pearl finery in the near future!

Eddie Holden and Mike BraddockPearlescent Colourcard

Demand for Centura Pearl is such that it is gradually being introduced into all of Slater Harrison’s product ranges, the latest being Colourcard.

The addition of ten Centura Pearl colours to the Colourcard range is in response to requests from merchants and education stockists. The new colours will, like our existing Colourcard range, be shrink wrapped in 25s and available from stock. However, we will also, on sufficient quantities, be able to provide a bespoke service, where a customer can ask for a specific colour supplied in a size and quantity to suit their requirements. We are already working with one leading merchant to supply a bespoke range of Centura Pearl Colourcard to suit the requirements of one of their customers. A swatch is available for the whole Colourcard range by telephoning our Sales Office on 01625 578900.

Teddy bears waiting for Spring

Children all over the country will be able to create their own teddy bear’s picnics and farmyard stories this year, thanks to a new innovation from Slater Harrison. The launch of new Silhouette borders into the Educraft range will give teachers an easy way to create new scenes for craft or art classes, by using silhouetted figures against coloured backgrounds.

The silhouettes will be available this Spring from all good educational outlets and, although plans have not yet been finalised, are expected to include teddy bears and farmyard animals as well as a series of transport shapes. Packed in pairs of 7.5 metre rolls, available in black, the silhouettes are expected to be an instant hit with both teachers and children. You can register your interest now by contacting David Walker on 01625 578962, who will send further details when they are available.
