At the forefront of innovation
Slater Harrison, one of the UK’s leading coaters of paper and board,
has won the prestigious Fine Art Trade Guild Innovation Award 2002 for
its unique pearlescent product, Centura Pearl.
Although Centura Pearl is available in a wide range of colours, this
award has been won for the revolutionary alternative to metallic finishes
that the Centura Pearl range offers.
Traditionally, metallic finishes have contained actual metals, some of
which are harmful to the environment. These metals, such as copper, zinc
and aluminium, cause production headaches, reacting badly when handled,
fingerprinting, scuffing or tarnishing and marking due to anodisation.
Until now, no manufacturer has provided a solution to this problem. However,
the development team at Slater Harrison realised the importance of metallics,
and set about developing an alternative to coatings containing metal pigment.
The Centura Pearl range now includes Gold, Old Gold, Copper and Silver,
all of which look as good as their metallic counterparts.
Whilst this award is for innovation in the art and framing market, the
benefits of Centura Pearl are equally relevant to the production of packaging
and printed material. Centura Pearl is available in sheet and roll format,
in many different paper and board weights and can be printed using any
print process, including litho.
